First Day of Summer is Saturday, June 21st!
Summer is nearly here and I've been curious as to what that really means in the astronomical sense. So, I decided to do a little reading and look up some facts.
Below are a few fun little tidbits I found while searching online here.
Fact #1:
The first day of Summer {or Summer Solstice} is the longest day of the year.
Fact #2:
During the first day of Summer the Sun reaches it's highest point in the sky at noon. It's the one time of the year when the Sun is at it's farthest point North of the celestial equator.
Fact #3:
The opposite applies for the Winter Solstice.
So in celebration of longer days and hotter weather, I'd like to celebrate Summer Solstice with you by giving away a gift card to one lucky reader.
